It’s New Year’s Eve, and that, good friends, is a time for reflection over the past 12 months. For me, 2009 has been a hallmark year. Sure, it’s had its trials and tribulation; but overall, it’s been a great year. Moreover, I honestly believe I will look back on 2009 as a major turning point in my life. This is the time of year when newspapers, TV stations, blogs, and essentially any other broadcast outlet will produce their Top # List of the Best/Worst/Weirdest Movie/Album/Events/News stories/Stuff of the Decade. And while this is a somewhat cliché tradition, it’s still a valid one, since human beings are genetically wired to really enjoy a good list. So, I thought about it; I talked about it with Scott; I consulted my psychic; I examined a scale model of Edmonton the size of my kitchen table… And I decided it would be inappropriate to post an FML Friday on Christmas day, the day of Santa’s birth and the ruthless enslavement of an entire species of house elf.

Instead, I decided this week’s FML Friday would take place today, on Wednesday. I’m still not sure what to make of fmylife.com. On the one hand, people are dumb. On the other hand, I find it disheartening to know that people are this dumb. So in a bid to offer them unbiased advice, I just wind up making fun of them.

I didn’t realize it until very recently, but I am without question a huge Arnold Schwarzenegger fan. I could give two squirts what the man’s political policies are now that he’s the Governor of California. What interests me about Arnold isn’t his post-film life; it’s what he contributed to American popular film before he decided to, you know, help the people of California (I would argue he was helping the world by starring in action movies, but I’m also extremely shallow).
