Return of the Leaky Deathship

Ah, the Leaky Deathship – or as it is more commonly referred to, The Gateway.

Both Adam and I are former contributors to the University of Alberta’s very own student newspaper; I was an avid contributor and delivered papers around campus for a year, Adam had the slightly less respected position of Editor-in-Chief. Now, many of you are probably aware of our past with this institution, but you may not be aware that many of our guests are also former Gatewayers.

It’s the Unknown Studio’s Gateway rundown!

Don Iveson (Episode 2)
Ramin Ostad (Episode 3)
Scott Lilwall (Episode 4)
Cary Williams (Episode 12 – check that photo credit!)
Karen Unland (Epsiode 13)

Dave Cournoyer (Episode 9) didn’t write for the paper, but being involved in student politics makes you a frequent Gateway topic.

As an added bonus, Edmonton uber-blogger Mack Male has also left his mark on the paper.

Now I’m not saying we’re playing favourites by booking former members of our exclusive newspaper club. We are however more inclined the book them. Because we like them.

We’d LOVE to have you on, Danny. Too bad you live in parts unknown, Canada.

        I read this line:

        “you live in parts unknown”

        as:

“you live with your pants down”

        That’s all.

It’s true that Dan has been known to live his life this way…

Also, I had no IDEA I was presiding over the running of the newspaper when Mack wrote. I can’t believe it took me another 3 years to actually meet him!

That picture in the Gateway was a refreshing reminder of why I now have a beard. #Ilooklikea16yearoldwhenIdonthavefacialhair

    Thank you.

Also, there was an edition of the Gateway printed sometime in early 2007 where yours truly was the quoted in both main front stories (including one of the headlines), questioned in the streeters section, and pictured twice.

We will henceforth refer to this phenomenon as the “Daveberta Hat Trick”.

So, can I just exploit my Gateway experience, or do I actually have to have something worth talking about in order to be on the show?
