The Aughts: ten awesome albums

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On January - 7 - 2010

Rather than pick the ten best albums of the last decade — a nearly impossible task, in my opinion — I decided to pick one influential album from each year and talk about why I think it’s particularly important in general, or just specifically for my life.

The beginning of this decade for me marked a significant time in my life, where I felt as though I finally had direction for what I wanted to do. And it all started at the Gateway, the U of A’s student newspaper. I was fortunate to meet so many cool people there who exposed me to an incredible diversity of music and popular culture. To my friends from those times (and beyond), thank you for always sharing your delicious tastes with me. Read the rest of this entry »

Year of the Conference… I mean Tiger

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On January - 5 - 2010

As I alluded to in my brief post yesterday, 2010 (I’m calling it twenty-ten. Anyone who says “two-thousand and ten” has way too much time on their hands) is shaping up to be a pretty exciting year.

On a personal note, I’ve been working my current job for a year (EXACTLY one year to the day), and I finally feel like I’ve got a handle on my role, like I’m adding value to the company, and like I’m keeping my head above water… most days. It’s exposed me to a slew of great new contacts, interesting potential guests for the Unknown Studio, and five terrific and talented individuals with whom I get to work and argue day in and day out.

Twenty-ten marks the year I turn 30. I still don’t own a house, I bought my current vehicle off my parents for the princely sum of $5, and I spend more money on beer than most other things. But you know what? I’m happy. Happy and generally quite drunk. Read the rest of this entry »

So this is a New Year…

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On January - 4 - 2010

Ah, what a lovely break that was. I love Christmas holidays! Time to reflect, refresh and re-engage. And that’s the plan for the Unknown Studio as well. After about a week of not looking at the site and instead looking at heaping plates of food and chocolate, I’m glad to be getting back to the writing of articles, the posting of photos, and the embedding of video.

Scott and I have a lot planned for 2010, so hold on tight and enjoy the show, the site and your life here in Edmonton.

This week, I’ll be posting my favourite albums from the last decade (one album for each year!), we’ll see the return of FML Friday, and we’ll have plenty of interesting stories, links and photos to share from the holidays.

Welcome to 2010, twenties of readers!

About Me

Where \"me\" means \"us,\" really. This is the home of the Unknown Studio, a podcast based in Edmonton, AB. When we aren\'t casting pods, as it were, we\'re here posting content you\'ll no doubt find riveting and probably mostly apocryphal. But certainly worthy of comment.
