Hitting the Links – Saturday, July 30th, 2011

Posted by Scott C. Bourgeois On July - 30 - 2011

It turns out it’s HARD keeping to a regular schedule sometimes.

Specifically, I really do intend for the Hitting the Links feature to go up every Saturday. But the fact is I’m busy and it’s just been difficult. So I apologize for not getting one up last week.

But fear not, faithful Internauts, for we’re back, and we’ve got plenty of strangeness from all corners of the web for you to peruse.

This week’s links include dogs versus sharks, the navy versus aliens, cars versus gravity, space stations versus the ocean, and Chinese parents versus common sense. Huh… lots of conflict there.

Lets hit the links!

Hitting the Links – Saturday, July 16th, 2011

Posted by Scott C. Bourgeois On July - 16 - 2011

It’s Saturday, and that means its time for another stroll through the fairways of the digital world.

Earlier this week, local Internet Mack Male wrote about link roundup posts, and I’m happy to say that Hitting the Links made the cut for a mention. He also spoke about how he enjoys these little roundups, even though they don’t generate many comments.

So I wonder… who out there is wandering through my 18 weekly Internet holes? Care to comment? Make yourselves known, Internauts! Let’s explore together!

As always, I take 18 of the links I’ve tweeted and compile them for you.

This week’s links from the depths of the internet include fish using tools, a Lizard Man, giant space rocks, and a motherfucking BATMOBILE… among other Batman related fun.

Jay n’ J: welcome to the YEG Podosphere

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On July - 12 - 2011

Just over a month ago, “Mondo” Jay Runham and I had a drink together at Next Act. Jay wanted to pick my brain about everything I knew about podcasting — what’s the best equipment, what would be a good format, all that good stuff.

As I slipped gracelessly into a stupor, looking at Jay square in the eye — for one of mine had permanently closed — I told him, in no uncertain terms, that he wasn’t to start his own podcast. The last thing the Unknown Studio needs, I told him, is competition.

Jay reassured me he wasn’t trying to compete with the Unknown Studio… Unless we planned to talk about movies ever again. Which we probably do. That’s when he told me about Jay n’ J[ordan] — Edmonton’s Entertainment Podcast. I decided, after sobriety gave me a stern lecture to find out more about this new project. Hitting the Links – Saturday July 9, 2011

Posted by Scott C. Bourgeois On July - 9 - 2011

And we’re back, friendly Internauts.

Yes, the Canada Day long weekend didn’t have a Hitting the Links. Let’s be honest, though – you were out getting drunk and watching fireworks, so you really didn’t have time to scan over the week in strange links, did you?

I considered a belated segment, but decided not to bother.

So, we take 18 of the links I’ve tweeted and compile them in a handy list.

This week’s online strangeness includes immortality, Angry Birds the movie, and Charlie Sheen.

A love letter to Riverdale

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On July - 6 - 2011

As some friends of the Unknown Studio will know, I recently moved out of my east-central Edmonton home of four years, and have taken up residence in the south Oliver neighbourhood — which many lovingly refer to as “Sir Lawrence” or “Olivier,” the classy side of Oliver. I moved in with my long-time girlfriend Rachel, and am happy to be living with her, and my now-very-happy-and-relaxed cat Moonie. We have a great view of the University from our perch downtown, and we’re close to everything — seriously, EVERYTHING — we might want to access by foot or bike.

But this involved moving from a place I called home for just over four years. A place that saw me through a panoply of different crises, successes and changes. A place I would call one of the most beautiful in the City of Edmonton, a gem for its natural beauty, and the large, warm hearts of its residents.

A place called Riverdale. Read the rest of this entry »

About Me

Where \"me\" means \"us,\" really. This is the home of the Unknown Studio, a podcast based in Edmonton, AB. When we aren\'t casting pods, as it were, we\'re here posting content you\'ll no doubt find riveting and probably mostly apocryphal. But certainly worthy of comment.
