Forget about how important it is, breakfast is easily my favourite meal of the day regardless of its metabolism-igniting benefits. And one of my favourite parts of breakfast is eggs.
Such a strange and versatile thing, eggs. Easy to mess up if you over-cook them (ie, rubbery scrambled garbage) or accidentally break the yolk (ie, over-forced egg-over-easy mishaps); positively wonderful when you manage to cook them just right (think of the perfect soft-poached egg, or an idyllically shaped sunny-side-up).
Imagine my absolutely joy, then, when I saw this post from Lifehacker shared by my pal Wade. It’s a fool-proof way to poach eggs using a sous-vide method. Check out the video at the top of this post and see how easy it is.
And if you’re a fan of the sunny-side-up egg (I prefer over-easy myself), you’ll love this sunny-side-up-in-an-onion article from Apron Strings:
This is a great version of the eggs in veggie ring molds – sauteed onions are so delicious, and give a nice tang to the eggs. And they are, of course, beautiful on a plate!
There. Now you have ideas for brunch on the weekend. Know of any placed in Edmonton to sample fantastic eggs? Let us know in the comments!
