#Selfportraitmonday: the birth of a meme?

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On May - 17 - 2010

There’s nothing quite like doodling or sketching something to pass the time. Oh sure, you should be taking notes, but instead you’re drawing an epic stickman battle involving helicopters and entire platoons of poorly-drawn men. Or maybe you’re just randomly drawing lines or geometric patterns.

For influencial Edmonton Twitter user @steenyweeny (known to some as Jen), a boring February phone call accompanied by a notepad and pen has gone from random doodles to a bona fide Twitter phenomenon called #selfportraitmondays — that’s “self-portrait Mondays” or SPM for the uninitiated. To all the mothers of other brothers (and sisters)…

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On May - 9 - 2010

Coming to you almost live from down in my basement office in scenic Riverdale, and on behalf of both Scott and myself, we just wanted to wish all the moms, grandmoms, and powerful matriarchs the world over a wonderful, rich and happy Mothers’ Day. You deserve to be honoured and revered everyday, but that would prevent Hallmark from earning significant revenue on other worthwhile occasions.

To my mum: I’m what I am today in large part because of you. What I’m really saying is, this is all your fault. I love you, mum!

Mom, thanks for bringing me into a world where love can be expressed electronically

Getting to know The Edmontonian(s)

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On November - 10 - 2009

The first time I met Jeff Samsanow was actually at the same event where I rekindled my friendship with Unknown Studio co-host Scott C. Bourgeois. It was an Edmonton Tweet-up at a bar that no longer exists — or rather, the structure still exists, but it has a new name. That’s Edmonton for you. Read the rest of this entry »

Nerding it up with nerds…

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On November - 8 - 2009

Since launching the Unknown Studio last June with Scott, we’ve both variously been trying to find ways to promote the show. Some of that has meant appearing on other podcasts… Or, one other podcast, anyhow. Our third episode featured a good friend, Ramin Ostad, and on that episode we discussed storytelling using video games as a medium. Since that episode, I’ve been trying to sync my schedule with Ramin’s, who also co-host a show called UserCreatedContent, a great little podcast dedicated to all things video-gaming in Edmonton. Sick days: how I know my co-workers missed me

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On November - 2 - 2009

It’s pretty easy to tell when my work colleagues miss me. I was out with the flu (or something) last week, and I was sent a few telling images that both professed my colleagues’ love for me, and their dismay at my absence from work. Read the rest of this entry »

Life in bullet points, Vol. 2

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On September - 30 - 2009

As life continues to be a hilarious comedy of errors, leaving me little time to actually blog (excepting this week, where I’ve made a fairly concerted effort to get ‘er done), I’ve begun compiling some notes and links to share with you in the absence of something meatier. About Me

Where \"me\" means \"us,\" really. This is the home of the Unknown Studio, a podcast based in Edmonton, AB. When we aren\'t casting pods, as it were, we\'re here posting content you\'ll no doubt find riveting and probably mostly apocryphal. But certainly worthy of comment.
