Episode the 24th: Lynda Steele talks local news

Posted by Adam Rozenhart On May - 17 - 2010

I don’t think it’s a secret that Scott and I are fans of Global Edmonton 6 0′clock news co-anchor Lynda Steele. She’s a pillar of the community, a big Edmonton booster, and an all-around great woman. So we decided to invite her onto the show to get her perspective on living and working in Edmonton in a rather public role.

And wouldn’t you know it, but Lynda is extremely down-to-earth and fun. Scott and I spent just over an hour chatting with her about how she got into her job as a news anchor, how news has changed, and what it’s like to be a news personality who gets noticed out in public. This episode, Scott and I spent an hour with sports journalist Dan Tencer, who works for 630 CHED in Edmonton as the host of Inside Sports.

Dan took us through his thoughts on the Edmonton Oilers and how they’ll fare this year with few roster changes, big coaching changes, and a sense of excitement he’s getting from the team about the forthcoming season.

Dan also shared his thoughts about adding another Canadian NHL team to the league, and just exactly what on earth is happening with the NHL and the Phoenix Coyotes.

Finally, Dan imparts his thoughts about working as a sports journalist. In brief: he digs it.
